Hi, I’m a young trainer who has been involved with AYPH a little over a year now. I can say I’ve seen and been part of change on so many occasions and at different levels. We’ve realised that to get the best out of us and professionals we have to up our game!
After working with Pilotlight, we redesigned our training and now offer a 1 hour online bitesize session alongside our longer courses. Each course is co‑led by young people who are experts by experience.
The young trainers’ team is diverse and has experts by experience in different categories, such as young people who have experience with the health system or young people who are care experienced. We have two teams of young trainers. We have a London based group and a Northeast based group. So, if are you intrigued to know what makes the improvements we made worthwhile, we are hoping that we’ll be able to have more professionals join us. If you can’t attend training due to not having to take days off as annual leave or things like that, hopefully our new training will help you feel you’ll be able to find training at a length and time to meet your needs and fit around your schedules.
AYPH is a charity dedicated to adolescent and young people’s health. This organisation is constructed of a very committed and dedicated small team, a wonderful board of trustees and us young trainers! We deliver training in a more hands on engagement and FUN focused approach. Our training is practical, engaging, and rooted in real experiences. We will share resources, hints and tips, reflective time and provide different insight to aspects of what professionals see, think and feel, what we feel, see and think, as well as broader groups of young people’s insights. This creates a powerful space for understanding, empathy, and positive change.
A lot of time, effort and brain power has gone into planning and reshaping our training sessions, as every day is one that provides us the time to learn something new. Our training is specifically solution focused and we understand funding cuts and budgets don’t always allow for big changes, but that’s why our approach is to do anything that you can do to make a positive change. You can start doing small things because it allows time for things to change and become a new routine and all the small changes will have just as big of an impact. It all adds up. So will you help us make a positive impact and influence and change health and social care sectors? Come on you know you wanna! Book your space, be the change you wanna see! Don’t miss out!
